BELGAUM FOUNDRY CLUSTER

 

The Belgaum Foundry Cluster received the First prize at Cluster/SPV level under Environment Category for their initiative to reduce energy consumption through the use of energy-efficient technologies. They undertook the “GEF-UNIDO- BEE project on promoting Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy in selected MSME Clusters in India”. The total savings achieved by implementing energy efficiency measures in various foundries is
Rs 39 million by making an investment of Rs 22 million by these units.

SANTINIKETAN ARTISTIC LEATHER  GOODS  MANUFACTURERS  WELFARE ASSOCIATION

The Santiniketan Artistic Leather Goods Manufacturers Welfare Association received the First Prize at Cluster/SPV Level under Social Category for their initiative of linking financial schemes with their member artisans. Due to this initiative, total bank finance has gone above Rs. 3 crores in the period April 2014 to March 2017, benefiting 30 member and 42 non-member artisans.

PANIPAT DYERS ASSOCIATION

The Panipat Dyers Association received the First Prize at District Level under Environment Category for overcoming the problem of depleting groundwater reserves by installing a rainwater harvesting system, coupled with a water recycling facility.  The industry saved more than Rs 10 million annually on water purchase. Furthermore, there has been a positive impact on the environment, boosting groundwater level for the local community. More than 50 members and the local community got benefited from this exemplary activity.

JODHPUR HANDICRAFTS EXPORTERS ASSOCIATION

Jodhpur Handicrafts Exporters Association received the First Prize at District Level under Social Category for their initiative  to train rural women in handicraft production. The project emphasized on promoting women entrepreneurs, especially those belonging to scheduled castes and scheduled tribes. More than 750 women have been employed through this initiative. The programme has also produced more than 50 startups which are successfully exporting to various countries.

INDIAN MACHINE TOOL MANUFACTURERS' ASSOCIATION

 

The Indian Machine Tools Manufacturers Association (IMTMA) received the First Prize at Country/State Level under Social Category for establishing a Productivity Institute, Finishing School and Design Institute to deliver quality technical education to the youth. It conducts 150 unique training programs focusing on design, productivity improvement, quality and maintenance and automation. Training imparted by the IMTMA directly benefits its members by providing a steady supply of skilled workforce. On the other side, a large number of youth get employed because of this initiative.

INDIAN TEXTILE ACCESSORIES & MACHINERY MANUFACTURERS ASSOCIATION 

 

The Indian Textile Accessories & Machinery Manufacturers Association received the First Prize at Country/State Level under Environment Category for implementing the Lean Manufacturing Competitiveness Scheme to promote sustainable production in member units. The result of this initiative was reduced energy cost, increase in productivity, and reduced waste generation and hazardous emissions bringing a total benefit of more than 20 million rupees.

SRI NANDI KHADI GRAMODYOGA SANGHA

 

The Special Jury Award 2018 was given to Nandi Khadi Gramodyoga Sangha for constructing quarters for the skilled and semi-skilled workers of one of its production centers in the remote area of Sidlaghatta, Karnataka. The major objective was to contribute to the welfare of the marginalized workers by accommodating them without charging any rent. Electricity and water in the quarters are completely subsidized. 17 marginalized workers and their families got directly benefited from the project.

A case study publication is published every year which contains Top 12 responsible activities initiated by the BMOs for the respective year. Issue III was released on 8th February 2018 by Shri Rajiv Kumar, Vice-Chairman, NITI Aayog.
